Purpose & Need
Surveying and mapping are essential early steps in any infrastructure development project. They provide engineers with accurate starting points by defining project limits, assessing current conditions, identifying geographical features, corroborating data, and creating quality maps. You will support one of PGA’s key clients on local projects throughout the Tampa Bay region. Serving as a trusted subject matter expert and project manager for this client, you will foster long-term relationships to support PGA's strategic development goals.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and supervise all surveying and mapping activities for your market area, adhering to project schedules and requirements
- Collaborate with clients and project stakeholders to understand project goals, scope, and deliverables.
- Prepare and review project proposals, cost estimates, and work plans for client approval
- Ensure compliance with state and federal standards, specifications, and surveying procedures throughout project execution
- Utilize advanced surveying equipment, software, and methodologies to perform accurate field surveys and measurements
- Conduct surveys for highway alignments, right-of-way boundaries, control points, and topographic features
- Prepare and review survey plats, legal descriptions, right-of-way maps, and other survey-related documents
- Ensure proper geodetic control and coordinate systems are established and maintained
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders regarding surveying and mapping matters
- Seek opportunities for additional projects along with collaborating with business development teams to secure new contracts
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree or experience in lieu of degree
- 6+ years post licensure experience
- Florida Professional Land Surveyors (PLS) or Professional Surveyors & Mappers (PSM) license
- Micro Station SS10 and OpenRoads (ORD), AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience is preferred
What You’ll Bring
- In-depth knowledge of FDOT surveying and mapping standards, specifications, and procedures
Proficiency in using surveying equipment, such as total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors - Advanced skills in surveying and mapping software, such as AutoCAD, GIS, and FDOT-specific tools (e.g., Geopak, MicroStation, ORD)
- Familiarity with engineering design and construction practices
- Skills to coach, mentor, and motivate employees
- Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail, and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
